I have been buying the same version of this vice grip at harbor freight for $4 a piece and they would get to the point that they would pop open during clamping a work piece from being worn out. I opted to buy the real vice grips and am a bit disappointed as now they are made in China. I have old vice grips of other configurations that are made in the USA and the quality is far superior. These vice grips do hold your work piece much better but are almost impossible to release without using some other tool like pliers to squeeze the to pry the release bar. After aggravation in using these, I contacted the seller as they are slowing down work production. Their suggestion was to buy a different type and I was the first one to bring this to their attention. It was also suggested to loosen the clamp to the point you could open it while clamped to your workpiece. By doing that, it would be just the same as not using a clamp at all. Best advice I have for anyone buying these or anything from this seller is to keep looking elsewhere. You will save yourself hassles.*These vice grips work great as paperweights. Expensive trio but my papers don't blow away. Order yourself some today!
